Role Overview

We are seeking a talented Data Scientist to join our growing data team. In this role, you will work on both our core products, focusing on data visualisation, statistical analysis, and developing insights for our clients. You'll collaborate closely with our Founding Data Scientist and AI Engineer to implement analytical solutions that enhance our financial products while growing your skills in advanced analytics and machine learning.

Tangible is a seed stage climate / fintech startup looking to unlock critical capital for hard tech innovators. Our platform offers tools to help these companies all a the way through their financing journey. We are a small and nimble team, passionate about seeing these hardware companies succeed. Key responsibilities

As a Data Scientist at Tangible you will build the essential data science and mathematical underpinning of our products. It will require deeply understanding the core customer problems and translating that to robust analytical solutions. Your role will involve performing statistical analysis on financial data to identify trends and insights, and delivering those insights to our customers through visualisations, interactive dashboards and simulations. You'll dive deep into the technical challenges of emerging markets, developing risk assessment models that reveal hidden patterns in novel business models, building Monte Carlo simulations to stress-test innovative financing structures, and creating analytical frameworks that decode complex, esoteric assets to accelerate their path to financeability. Moreover, as an AI-first company in both our products and development vision, we also encourage you to contribute to our LLM and agentic feature development.

What you bring to the table

Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative science
Experience in either an applied data science position or a quantitative academic field
Strong proficiency in Python and the Python data science stack (NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn)
Solid mathematical background and a deep understanding of statistical methods including hypothesis testing, regression analysis and experimental design
Familiarity with the standard data science stack, such as time-series analysis, exploratory data analysis, supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques and model evaluation
Rigorous analytical thinking with strong attention to detail, and ability to translate complex business problems into mathematical frameworks
A product mindset, which includes the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions, communicate insights effectively to diverse stakeholders, and build robust, production-ready analytical systems
A creative, problem-solving approach with enthusiasm for learning new techniques, exploring innovative methods and experimenting with emerging tools. We seek keen, self-driven learners who thrive in our fast-paced startup environment
Financial industry experience is preferred but not required

Time off
You get the time off you need. We trust you to support your team by resting as well as working. We want you to have control and be able to observe what’s important to you — including taking time off when your mind and body need a break. Some people need a bit more of a push when it comes to taking holiday, so your manager will make sure you take at least 25 days off a year and generally gloat about their latest hiking trip.

In a small team, we also rely on you to help your colleagues. That means checking in, following up when you notice signs of strain or stress, and being open and honest about your own feelings.
